Celebrating Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Chatham Grammar
Our Academy is so fortunate to have a very diverse cohort of the most amazing and talented people. It is our highest priority to ensure our academy is inclusive for all staff, students and their families. Our equalities work began in September 2020 by conducting equality surveys and holding discussion groups with our Parents/Carers, Students, Staff and Trustees.
In response to the surveys and the subsequent discussion groups that took place, the academy embarked on a review of all our policies, a full curriculum review, to ensure that we are delivering a diverse and inclusive education for all students, and additional CPD for all members of staff.
Students highlighted that they would like more opportunities to learn about and celebrate a variety of cultures and would welcome further opportunities to discuss and share their ideas regarding equalities. In response to this, we introduced the new student Leadership role of Equalities Leader. Each tutor group have an Equalities Leader to represent their class in a termly discussion group. The discussion group provides the opportunity for students to share any concerns, feedback on any changes that have been implemented and to help plan and organise cultural events; it also offers students a great opportunity to develop their leadership skills.
The Academy is committed to ensuring that we continue to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment to all students. We understand that we must continue to listen to feedback and ensure an open dialogue around all issues in relation to equality. Therefore, we welcome and encourage your continued feedback; please forward any questions or suggestions that specifically relate to the equalities work at the academy to the following email address:
